Owen [Newborn]

I've known Katie, Owen's mom, for probably about 5 1/2 years now. We met when I was looking for a new hair stylist and just happened to be paired with her when I called for an appointment. She not only does a fabulous job on my hair, but is also incredibly nice and funny - I always look forward to those highlight appointments where we can chat for quite awhile.

This weekend I was given the opportunity to join Katie and her husband Zach (who I just met for the first time but is also wonderful!) at their home to take photos of 11 day old Owen. Although he wasn't too sleepy, we were still able to get some darling images of the little guy. It's incredible even at 11 days old how Owen knows exactly who his mama is, and he kept a very close eye on her throughout the session.

Thanks again to Katie and Zach for the opportunity to meet and photograph sweet baby Owen. I hope you guys like the preview!

Also, a huge thanks to Andrea from Forever Handmade who let me borrow some blankets and hats for the session! Check out her Etsy store HERE.

I just love his expression in this photo.

All You Need is Love...and a Dog

When it came time to start thinking about Valentine's Day this year, I decided I wanted to do a session with Einstein (surprise, surprise!). He had such a great time back in October when our gorgeous little neighbor Avery modeled with him for a Halloween session, that we decided to see if she'd like to join us again. We had so much fun with this session, especially the part where we threw heart confetti everywhere! A huge thanks goes out to super cute Avery (and the lovely Tanya!) for helping me out, and of course to Einstein for being the cutest dog ever. Hope your Valentine's Day is happy!!

Einstein got tired of modeling, so Josh showed Avery Ein's body double. We all laughed pretty hard when Avery said (and I quote), "This fake Einstein is so calm!".

Emersyn [3 Months]

I was so excited when Chelsea contacted me about coming up to see her, Richard, and little Miss Emersyn for her 3 month photos. One of the things I love most about my job is seeing families grow, and Emersyn's changed so much from the teeny tiny newborn she was back in October. I just love the little outfits that Chelsea had ready to go, and I now know how to make a tutu with a stretchy headband and tulle! :)

Chelsea and Richard - I hope you guys like the preview, thank you again for inviting me to document these milestones in Emersyn's life. It's always so great to see you all!

This first photo was actually one of the last ones I took at the session. We had worn Emersyn out and this moment between mom and daughter just melts my heart.

Chelsea wanted to get a few photos of Emersyn in the gown she wore at her baptism, she looks like a little doll in this photo!

Megan & Mitch [Iowa City, IA Engagement]

Josh and I met up with Megan and Mitch for their engagement photos this past Saturday, and although it was a perfect day for outdoor photos in the winter (not too cold, no wind, sunny day), we were missing the one thing they really wanted = snow. Megan even brought a sled to use in the photos, but sadly we had such a pathetic amount of the white stuff that we weren't able to use it at all. Regardless, I think we got some beautiful photos of this incredibly fun couple.

Megan and Mitch have known each other since elementary school, and they both went to college at Iowa State, so they've been in each other's lives for a long time. You can tell these two have a long history, as they seem not only very much in love, but also best friends. It was such a fun session with them joking around and laughing, I really love seeing such a great connection between two people who are about to start their lives together as husband and wife.

These two got engaged in September 2011, and Mitch played a bit of a prank on her at first - handing her a ring box with a folded up picture of a t-shirt he had bought her. Secretly Megan was thinking "please don't let him propose this way" when he just handed her a ring box, but awhile later (after Mitch had a good laugh) the real proposal happened. They had been out on the land they hope to build a house on someday when Mitch asked Megan what she thought of when she looked around the properly. She answered him by saying she could envision their house someday, and he agreed, getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him. As it turns out, Mitch is quite the romantic, he had her parents, his parents, and Megan's best friend (now maid of honor) hiding nearby and they all came out to congratulate the newly engaged couple.

Now, onto the photos - I hope you guys like the sneak preview. It was so much fun getting to know you during the session and we can't wait for your wedding in September!
