Favorite 9 of 2009...

I got this idea from one of my favorite photography blogs, Lot 116. I thought it was such a fantastic way to celebrate the end of 2009 that I decided to do my top 9 as well.

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took a chance on me this year, and for allowing me the opportunity to photograph you and your families. I really appreciate each and every one of you!! I hope you have a happy and healthy 2010.

(In no particular order...)

Dan

I actually took these photos back in September but they were a gift, so I was unable to post them until after the holidays. You may remember Dan from a previous post (here) when I took photos of him with his older brother and sister. Dan's been my buddy since he was 9 (almost 10) and now he's the ripe old age of 17!! He's grown into quite the teenager and I'm so lucky to have him in my life.

Ronan

You may recognize this little guy from the blog back in November. Since he was under the weather on the day of the shoot, his mom asked if I would take some more when he was feeling better. He wasn't feeling too smiley today but I did manage to capture a couple! Here's your sneak peek...

I have my first indoor shoot today so of course I had to practice the set up on my favorite subject, Einstein! He was a little scared of the bamboo rug, so I had him sit in his old bed (although he didn't like that much either). I finally got a good shot when I asked him if he wanted a treat!

The S Family

The weekend after Thanksgiving I took some photos for my aunt and her family. It was good practice for me to have three kids (age 6 and twins, age 4) to wrangle, and they got some great photos out of the deal! Check out this gorgeous family...

Jessica, Andrew, and Daniel

Today I had the pleasure of taking photos for some of my favorite people in the world. Although I'm getting ready to head out of town, I had to take a look at them before I left and couldn't resist editing a couple for the blog. I hope you guys like them - I know most people will like the first one, but the second is actually my favorite. :)

What to Wear

I often get the question "What should we wear?" and my sister suggested I do a post showing some ideas. I like to tell people to coordinate but don't be too matchy - I personally am not a fan of the everyone in white shirts and khaki pants look. Change it up a little and show your personality!

This first look is one I came up with as an example for a family with two kids (one girl, one boy). I like the neutral base with a fun pop of color (the pink on the gray shirt and the pink sweater).

Here's another look, this time for two adults (maybe for the casual portion of an engagement session).

Gap at ShopStyle

This third look is for a session for just two children (no adults).

The last option is if you want to be a little more adventurous and try mixing prints. Just make sure that everything is in the same color family (such as the ivory, grey, red, and black in this set).

Hopefully this post gives you a few ideas for your future photo sessions. One last suggestion (especially if you have little ones) is make sure they are comfortable in what they are wearing, and dress them in clothing you don't mind them running around in and maybe even getting a little dirty. I've had clients doing everything from sitting on some old tires, putting their feet in a fountain, as well as just sitting on the (still slightly wet) grass for a few shots - so don't wear something that you'd be horrified to sit on the ground in. :)

The M Family

On Sunday afternoon I took some photos for my friend Stacy and her husband Matt, along with their adorable puppy Mocha (she's Einstein's girlfriend by the way). Here are some of my favorites from the shoot!

The E Family

This morning I met the E family for some family pictures, as well as a few individual ones for their son Ronan who turned one this fall. I tried to keep the session short because the little guy wasn't feeling well, but I still think we got some really cute pictures. It was a pleasure meeting you guys, thanks for giving me the opportunity to take your photos! I hope you like your sneak peek...

This weekend I took some photos for my sister and her fiance so they could make their Save the Dates. I hope you guys like this sneak peek! (Hint...you can see a few more by clicking HERE.)
