Tru Salon [Coralville, IA Headshot Photography]

Tru Salon in Coralville needed some updated headshots for their staff, so on a couple Sundays earlier this month I had the opportunity to photograph Holly, Kayla, and Ally. We all had a great time, and I can't wait to see which photos they choose for their new website, but here are some of my favorites!

Anne from Starry Eyed Ventures [Iowa City, IA Headshot Photography]

Last night I met up with Anne, the lovely owner of Starry Eyed Ventures, a travel planning service focused on making honeymoon planning an effortless experience for brides and grooms.

We had a beautiful evening at the lake for Anne's headshots, who is launching her first website and needed a few professional photos. It was so great chatting with her and getting to know her a little bit! Turns out, we both treat our dogs like humans and both met our husbands on blind dates! I wish Anne's business had been around when I got married, as her expertise and planning would have been invaluable! Having traveled extensively herself, Anne eventually decided to become a certified travel agent and soon had friends asking her to plan trips for them. From there, she went on to create Starry Eyed Ventures, and now exclusively plans honeymoons for brides and grooms! You can visit Anne's website HERE!

Amanda from Memories in the Making Event Planning & Design [North Liberty, IA Headshot Photography]

Amanda Young is the owner of Memories in the Making Event Planning & Design here in North Liberty. Her branding is really moving forward and so many exciting things are in the works for her! She recently added concierge services to her repertoire, which is such a great service for ANYONE planning an event that knows what they want or have done a lot of the planning themselves, but who needs someone to manage/put together all of the details leading up to the event. Such a fantastic idea, especially for busy professionals who just don't have time to do everything themselves.

Amanda and I got together on Sunday to take headshots for her new (soon to be launched) website and blog. Although it was cold, Amanda braved the wind to get a few outdoor shots as well. It's really been fun for me to see her so excited about the direction her business is going, and I'm thankful to have been a part of it! We got some really gorgeous photos, which show Amanda's fun loving personality and contagious smile.

Katie [Iowa City, IA Headshots]

I was so excited when Katie contacted me because at the first of the year I had set a goal of a specific # of sessions I wanted to book. Well, Katie was that magic #, allowing me to reach my goal! So many, many thanks to Katie!! :) Katie needed some headshots because she is a theater student at the University and wants to begin trying out for some productions, so we spent the evening last Sunday taking some photos for her.

I honestly had the absolute BEST time hanging out with Katie. She's beautiful, funny, charismatic, and tells some great stories. We had quite a bit in common, and she even loved my puppies (despite the fact that they were being a extra wild and crazy that evening!). I wish Katie all of the best, and I know she's going to go far with her career.

Katie, I hope you love these preview images - I had a very hard time picking which ones to show here on the blog. Thank you again for choosing me to take these photos for you, it was such a pleasure.

This girl has some seriously gorgeous eyes, smile, and I'd really like skin like hers - so pretty!! I think this first photo is my favorite - these yellow flowers at the Harvest Preserve were a perfect background to complement Katie.

Andrew - Winter Headshots

I hope one day that I will be watching TV and see Andrew's face on the screen, in which case I will proudly say that I knew him when... when he was 13 years old and I started working for his family, when he went off to college to study theater, when he asked me (on more than one occasion) to take his headshot photos. I have known Andrew for a very long time, and since he's like a brother to me, I can hardly refuse when he wants to update his headshots. Here's a few from our session in January, taken at my home because it was too cold and snowy outside (blue lips and frozen eyelashes just won't do).

I've known Andrew since he was in junior high, when I began working for his family back in 2002. He's really more like a brother than a friend, and I can't believe he's going to be graduating from college in the spring.

Andrew is incredibly funny, and never fails to make me laugh. He's a wonderful actor and I know he'll go far in whatever career path he ends up pursuing. Here are just a couple of shots from his session:

One thing I love about photography is meeting all kinds of cool and interesting people. Cassi is a theater major at the University of Iowa and contacted me about taking some headshots as she will be graduating this spring. I had such a great time photographing her early on Sunday morning and hearing about her future ambitions (she'd love to live in NYC and do theater someday) and her plans after graduation (applying for the Disney program or heading to the Twin Cities to do theater).

I really wanted to get a sneak preview up ASAP for Cassi so she could see what a great job she did yesterday, so here a few of my favorites so far.

I took some headshots for Andrew (who you might remember from this session - although now he has more hair) yesterday and I'm so happy with how they came out. The one where I captured his great smile is my favorite of the group, although his serious face is nice too. Here's a sneak peek...
