I just adore this family to pieces, and it's been so fun getting to see Jack progress from squishy little newborn to big, smiley almost one year old when we met up for their family session this past November. Honestly I'm surprised it took me this long to blog this wintery, cozy session!
I know people are afraid generally of doing winter outdoor sessions because midwest weather can be super unpredictable, so here are a few key tips:
1. For the love of Pete, layers!! You can cover up and dress warmly + still look adorable (see below).
2. Get ready to work fast!
3. Bring handwarmers, bundle up in blankets (bring some cute ones, again, see below), etc.
4. Please, PLEASE keep your expectations reasonable/think through if this is right for you - if your child screams every time you take him from the car to the house in the winter, or is WAY too young to be exposed to any sort of cold temperatures, there are plenty of indoor options that would be more suitable. Trust yourself and know what your family's limit is!
Even with all of that said, I love winter outdoor sessions, but they can be tricky to schedule because there is obviously a temperature threshold and no one wants to be outside if it's raining/sleeting, so be flexible or have a backup plan!
Ok, moving on to these cute pics. ;)
