Chris [Iowa City, IA Editorial Photography]

I've been dabbling with some editorial type photography lately, it's so much fun for me to do something purely for myself. I've mentioned in previous posts, it inspires me in ways I didn't expect and ultimately makes me a happier person and better photographer. I think it's pretty common as a photographer to get to a point where you are busy (which is AWESOME) but stop picking up a camera just for fun, so getting back to shooting in my free time has been a breath of fresh air for me.

Tru Salon Winter 2014 Editorial Shoot [Coralville, IA Editorial Photography]

These sessions I get to do with Tru Salon are so much fun, and this one with Chika modeling are some of my favorites. We got a little creative with the fan action and love how it turned out! Hair by Holly, makeup by Kayla (and Kayla did a fabulous job adding the "wind"). Love!!

The B Family [Wellman, IA Family and Child Photography]

This session was a long time in the making, as schedules and weather kept getting in the way, but finally on a somewhat chilly Monday evening we made it happen! I met the B Family when I photographed Erin for Cake & Whiskey magazine this spring, and I was thrilled that they invited me back out to their farm to take some family photos. TJ and Peyton are awesome kids, and we had a great time taking photos around their property. We even got to take photos with TJ on his favorite tractor!

Tim & Erin - thank you guys so much for choosing me to photograph your family!! It was so much fun hanging out, and your family is adorable.

Ashley [Iowa City, IA Editorial Photography]

This post features a personal project that was a collaboration alongside Holly Richter from Tru Salon in Coralville (one super talented lady!!). We have been getting together several times this year to do some editorial shoots for Tru, and have been having so much fun and feeling so inspired that we decided to work together to keep our passion for what we do going strong and creative juices flowing.

I love what I do, photographing families, children, etc but there's something very freeing about shooting just for myself. This project has opened up my creativity and reignited my passion for photography in ways I didn't expect. I really love these little projects, and I hope you do too! Thanks to my assistant Ashley for modeling, she did awesome!

The S Family [Solon, IA Family and Child Photography]

I met the gorgeous S Family out at Lake MacBride a couple of weeks ago where we got to spend a beautiful fall evening taking photos, hunting for bugs, and throwing rocks in the water. Ayden and Cole are so darn cute, and their parents Kelli and Eric are so fun and sweet. We love these guys!

The C Family [Iowa City, IA Family and Child Photography]

It is always a complete joy to photograph this family! Not only are Jenn and Bill super kind and fun to chat with, but Reese LOVES the camera (and it loves her too!). We had a great time hanging out with these three and capturing some photos of their family to document Reese's 4th year but also Jenn and Bill's upcoming wedding anniversary!
