My Einer [Personal]

It's been just over 4 months since I lost my sweet Einer. He was my best friend, my baby, and losing him was one of the toughest days of my life thus far. Not only was he such a part of my personal life, but was also the face of my business...literally. Five years ago when I did my branding, I asked specifically for Einstein to be a part of my logo - and my amazing branding team Braizen not only came up with an image drawn from a photo of my beloved pup, they also found that my last name means "little dog". So fitting that he was such a huge part of my life and business for so long, and will continue to be forever.


I felt like this post was due, to end a chapter and pay tribute to my sweet Bubba, on the eve of getting a new pup. It was something that I felt I had to be ready for, and I knew that I needed to get a different breed this time, as Einstein was one of a kind. He will continue to be part of my business logo, and will live on through all of those who loved him. These photos are credited to my friend Stephanie Watts, of Stephanie Marie Photography, and were taken one and half weeks before he died. I had no idea how important these photos would be to me, and it just re-emphasized why I do what I do. Please, don't wait to take photos with those you love - whether they are human or animal. I miss him every day, so much that it hurts, and I'm forever thankful that I have these images.

Thank you to all who loved Einstein, and to those who supported me through the long, difficult days after losing him. Your support meant everything to me. Thank you.

The A Family [Iowa City Family and Child Photography]

Liam turned two this year and we had a great time at his session - making animal noises mainly, and always a hit with the toddlers - teaching him how to use my camera! Nothing wrong with starting them young!! Check out this pic he snapped (with a little assistance) of mom and dad. I see a future assistant developing... ;)



Seriously though, I love this little family - and Liam just gets cuter every time I see him! He is full of energy and has such a great smile, though he can rock the serious model pose like nobody's business.

The K Family [North Liberty, IA Family and Child Photography]

The K Family had a sun kissed fall evening for their session, this fall weather has been so amazing! Kinsley has gotten so big since I last saw her, I can't believe this little one is 2! It's so much fun catching up with clients, and seeing how the little ones grow and change. Plus, this year they included their sweet pup Zoey - so you know I was loving every minute of it!!

The C Family [Solon, IA Family and Child Photography]

How cute is this family?! I know I say that all the time, but I really have the most gorgeous clients!! Not only are these three adorable, but the nicest family ever. I was greeted very quickly by Nora, along with her Carebear Funshine. Brought back some memories from my childhood - I used to love the Carebears! She couldn't wait to show me around the yard, and definitely wanted to make sure to show me her red swing. She was just the best - and like her parents, super photogenic! Here are a handful of my favorites from the session, I hope you enjoy!

Suzi + Andy [North Liberty, IA Love Photography]

A year and a half ago, I photographed Andy and Suzi's surprise proposal, followed by a surprise engagement party and just adored them! Sadly, I was booked on their wedding date, and they found another photographer to document the big day. Due to unfortunate circumstances (and quite frankly, my worst nightmare), their wedding photos were lost. After taking the time to come to terms with the fact that their images were never going to be recovered, they contacted me about doing a session just after their first anniversary. Of course, I was beyond willing to be a part of making new memories, and documenting the beautiful marriage they have created. To make the day special, they gave each other anniversary cards (tears were flowing all around - so sweet!), and I surprised them with cupcakes at the end! I know these images will never replace the ones they lost, but I hope that they will look at these and have new memories to add to the ones from their wedding day.
