Jennifer + Brett [North Liberty, IA Engagement Photography]

Jennifer and Brett's engagement session took place last Saturday, on a hazy, humid evening at the Harvest Preserve. These two were troopers, and despite the slightly uncomfortable temps, we were able to get some really beautiful photos. August is one of my favorite times of year in Iowa, everything is so green and the light is just gorgeous...plus, these two made my job super easy - they are so comfortable with each other and just a ton of fun to be around. I wish I could have kept them out there longer - darn sunset! :)

Jennifer and Brett met over 10 years ago, through mutual friends, while going to school at UNI. These two are so sweet together, I just loved hanging out with them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the most amazing weather on their wedding day this coming April. :)

(Note: Jennifer's hair was done by Groovy Katz Salon - I think it's awesome when brides pamper themselves a bit before their engagement pics!)

Willa [North Liberty, IA Newborn and Family Life Cycle Photography]

Willa came into the world on August 15th (my birthday, funny enough) - absolutely perfect and with a beautiful head of hair. :) Her parents Alicia and Nick are positively glowing with happiness as they adjust to life as new parents. I joined them in their home this past Saturday and Willa was the most perfect model. Seriously, this little sweetie set a new record for sleeping through a newborn session!

Alicia and Nick - Congratulations again on the birth of sweet baby Willa. It was so wonderful to see you all as a new family, and I appreciate so much being invited into your lives to capture these moments for you. I hope you like this preview.

Ruffles + Ribbons Baby Shower [Personal]

My family is currently preparing to welcome two new additions this fall, with 2 of my younger sisters expecting their first babies (both girls!!). So, to celebrate, we threw them a pink and white adorned, ruffles and ribbons themed baby shower on August 17th. Here are some photos from their day! :)

We held the shower at The Vincent House in Fort Dodge, IA (near my hometown of Humboldt), an old Victorian House which was absolutely beautiful. Cookies were made by Sprinkles & Company, Cupcakes by 4 Sweet Sisters, frozen yogurt bar and toppings were purchased by family/friends.

Happy National Dog Day!

My friend Jess pointed out that today is National Dog Day (which was started in 2004 to recognize the massive number of shelter pets looking for a good home and to encourage their adoption)! So, what better way to celebrate than with some adorable puppy faces (including my own 2 rascals, of course) here on the blog? I love when clients bring their dogs to their session, it's so much fun for me as I'm obsessed with puppies, and it's nice to include every member of your family. :)

Bri + Colby [Humboldt, IA Maternity Life Cycle Photography]

I have to admit, it is strange for me to see my baby sister pregnant, but I am SO beyond thrilled to be an aunt and I can't wait until BriAnne and Colby's baby girl joins our family in mid September. I was home to co-host a joint baby shower this weekend (another younger sister of mine is also expecting in November, it's a regular baby boom!!), and we took advantage of the beautiful weather to take maternity photos in my parents' backyard. It was a beautiful night (despite the typical accident prone Bohan shenanagins, of course), and of course - my sister is stunning. I don't think I've ever seen her look so happy, she was positively glowing.

Bri and Colby - I'm so very happy for you guys, and I can't wait to meet baby girl very soon. I love you both, and I hope your love continues to grow as your family does.
