Julian [Iowa City, IA Newborn Photography]

Newborn sessions often take a bit more time than a regular child or family session, which is understandable because babies need breaks for feeding, changing, and lots of time for cuddling. The great thing about spending a morning or an afternoon photographing adorable little babies is that I also get to know their parents pretty well by the end. The session with Julian and his parents Coelle & Chris was no exception, and by the end of the afternoon I felt like we were old friends. Julian was a GREAT model (hello, have you ever seen such a cute little guy?) and enjoyed all of the cuddling with mom & dad. Coelle and Chris are not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. These two are so funny, and are very much in love with Julian, as well as each other. It's really an incredible thing to see, and it was an honor to document it all for them.

So, without further ado - Julian's sneak peek. I hope you guys enjoy!! Coelle and Chris - congratulations again on your new addition, Julian is just gorgeous (or should I say handsome? Either way, he's perfect!!). Thank you again for inviting me into your beautiful home, and for the opportunity to photograph your family at such a special time in your lives!!



Julian is so darn cute! He was born on December 13th, 2012 but arrived a little early so he was still pretty tiny at our session last Sunday.

Everyone knows I'm a sucker for backlighting, so these next two images are definitely in my top 3 from this session!

I forget what Chris said here to make Coelle laugh, but I just love this photo.

I have to thank Coelle and Chris again for letting me pretty much take over their gorgeous home and being up for trying whatever I suggested. Lifestyle images are some of my favorite, and their house was absolutely perfect. 






















Coelle told me that Julian's nursery is a work in progress, but it looks pretty darn cute to me!

Quinn [West Des Moines, IA Newborn Photography]

You may remember the L family from their session this spring, and now they have a new little one - a baby girl! Quinn Harper (LOVE the name) is just as cute as her big brother Oliver, and I was so thrilled to get to meet her this past Sunday morning.

Quinn was born on November 14th, making her 11 days old when we did the session. I just love her big brown eyes, and I couldn't believe how much she looks like Oliver when he was a baby (see his 10 week old session HERE for a flashback!).

Nicole and James - Congratulations again on your beautiful baby girl. It was, as always, a pleasure to see you all!! I have really enjoyed watching your adorable family grow. I hope you like the preview!

My favorite!!

While Miss Quinn got a bit of a break, we took some photos of Oliver with mom & dad, as well as this adorable shot of him by himself. This guy's laugh has to be the best thing ever.  

Jeff, Rena, Blake, and Reese [Oh, and Griz too!] - [North Liberty, IA Family Photography]

Rena recently gave her boyfriend Jeff a gift certificate for photos as a birthday gift, as he had mentioned he had very few photos of him and the kids. (Gift certificates are a great gift idea, I might add!) We did their session on Sunday, November 4th, and although it was a little overcast, for early November the temperatures weren't too bad.

Blake is 11 and Reese is 4, and I really don't think these two kids could get much cuter. Blake was a natural in front of the camera, and once Reese opened up a bit, she did a fabulous job as well (aren't those blue eyes just gorgeous?!?). These two, paired with Rena, Jeff, and of course the professional dog model Griz, made for a great session. Rena, Jeff, Blake, and Reese - thank you for such a wonderful session, I hope you guys enjoy the preview!















Griz, super[model] dog in disguise? Rena warned me that Griz was a little crazy, but honestly he was SO well behaved. I really love when people include their pets in their photos, they are a part of the family after all!  













This last set of images was when we had finished and were just playing around, Josh helped Rena and Jeff gather up leaves to throw on the kids. Even Griz got in on the fun!

The H Family: Elizabeth and Pete [Mt. Vernon, IA Child Photography]

Early on Saturday morning, I met the H family in Mt. Vernon to take holiday photos of Elizabeth and Pete. I have to say, these kids are troopers! It was chilly, and the ground was still pretty damp from the rain we received on Friday but they did a great job! Their English Goldendoodle Harry (named due to his very furry coat) came along for some photos as well, what a sweet pup.

Huge thanks to the entire H family, it was a pleasure meeting you all! I hope you enjoy the preview.


I asked Pete what his favorite food is, he said "steak!". He also loves tractors (John Deere), a true Iowa boy at heart!!









Love the smiles in this one, their mom had just asked them to tell me about their crazy cat!   


Elizabeth likes to watch the movie Elf around the holidays, and we had a few laughs as we shared our favorite parts of the movie!
