What to Wear: Family Photos [Spring]

I think everyone stresses a little bit about what to wear for photos, as they want to look their absolute best. I spent some time this weekend working on two different outfit inspiration sets for a family session.

The first set is for a family of three with a little girl, the second is for a family of three with a little boy. If you like any of the specific items shown, you can click on the image and it will take you to the online store where you can purchase them if you wish.

Cozy Winter Engagement Outfit Ideas

Winter engagement photo sessions aren't for everyone, but they are SO pretty and unique! I have one coming up in late January/early February and I am super excited. I put together a couple outfits for inspiration, along with some tips for staying warm without looking bulky on a wintery photo session.

Tip #1: For women: put some leggings (regular will work fine, or look for a thermal/waffle knit pair for extra coziness) under your jeans. Your legs will thank you!

Tip #2: Better layer with the socks too, or wear a some that are designed to be warm in cold weather situations (like SmartWool).

Tip #3: Thermals are also good for layering under sweaters or jackets, adding thin (to avoid looking bulky) layers are going to also add warmth.

Tip #4: Find cozy hats that are also cute for photos if you want to keep your head warm, best to keep it on for the duration of the session rather than taking it on and off which creates tons of static + hat head.

You can click on any of these images for more information except the men's navy shirt (click here) and women's white hat (click here) in this first set.

Pinterest Obsessed

When I was moving last week, I found two (extremely heavy) notebooks where I had cut and pasted outfit ideas, house decorating inspiration, etc that I'd torn out of magazines once upon a time. Although I considered keeping them, the sheer weight of these two books made me think otherwise. Besides, now I have Pinterest to keep all of my fantastic inspirational finds in a tidy place online (and it won't weigh me down).

Lately I've been whiling away the hours, pinning and organizing all of the beautiful images I find online. A category that I wanted to share with you is one that helps to answer that pesky "What should I wear" question when it comes time to get your photos taken. I have one such board where I've been collecting gorgeous images to (hopefully) inspire you! Click HERE to view that particular board, or follow/view the rest of my boards HERE. I don't have any guy outfit inspiration at the moment, so I'll have to add that to my future to do list (don't want anyone to feel left out!!).

What to Wear: Engagement Photos

One of the most common questions I get asked is "what should we wear?", and it's been awhile since I have posted an engagement session "What to Wear" post so here it is! As always, trust your gut. If you wear an outfit you feel comfortable and beautiful (or handsome if you're a guy) in, you really can't go wrong. You can click on any of the images for more info if you really like any of the items shown!

I adore this Gap maxi dress - the color is SO great. Paired with sandals and hoop earrings it has a very casual feel (the fabric is jersey, which keeps it from being too dressy). If your guy is adventurous, he could add a little funkiness to his ensemble with a hat (I personally like this one).

I also like this second look - Anthropologie tops are great because they usually have an interesting pattern or some sort of texture + great colors. This print is neutral with grey and black, so I added a little color with the men's shirt in a pale yellow (roll up the sleeves for a casual look).

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Also, I mentioned this on my Facebook page but October is now FULL and I only have 2 spots left in September. I realize fall seems like a long ways away, but it will be here before we know it and these dates have been going fast so please book early if you're interested in a fall session. Thanks!
